Birmingham: Burgeoning in Secret
The last several times I’ve been to Birmingham I’ve been very impressed by what I’ve seen. Birmingham is perceived in some quarters as a stagnant city, but that's by folks who haven’t been there in quite a well.
The city illustrates the cumulative power of a series of small steps; it’s hard to point to one single event which propelled the city forward and created any publicity for its efforts at all (such as the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta). Consequently, Birmingham’s successes have been ignored in some quarters.
If you need to catch up on Birmingham, start with this feature in today’s Birmingham News.
